After stating that the results of Aprilia Racing fell short of expectations in 2023, Paolo Bonora made a ‘mea culpa’, stating that the manufacturer needs to provide the riders with the confidence they need to perform better. The official also praised Aleix Espargaró.
The Team Manager of the Noale manufacturer explained to the championship’s official website that the team did not prepare the RS-GP in the best way, acknowledging that this also affected the riders’ confidence: ‘In the second half of the season, we did not prepare the bike for the new conditions we encountered. We are happy with the riders, but we need to be much faster and consistent to give them the confidence they need’.
The focus then shifted to the “Captain” and main asset of the team in recent years, Aleix Espargaró: ‘He had an excellent first part of the season. His race in Barcelona was impressive, that’s for sure, and Maverick’s as well. In Silverstone we also achieved another incredible victory’.
Finishing sixth and seventh in the season, A. Espargaró and Viñales were separated by only two points.
