The CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team has been in the spotlight in recent days, not for the best reasons. Speculation about the team’s future in MotoGP is rife, with international press talking about debts and even a possible sale to new investors. Scenarios once again denied by RNF’s top executives.
CryptoDATA’s CEO, Ovidiu Toma, told SportTV: ‘Our contract is until 2026 and it is valid. We are still committed to being here until 2026. We deny any rumors, any news, that we have sold the team. So, we have not sold the team. From our side, everything is going as planned. All contracts are valid, all contracts are ongoing, so the next season awaits us’.
When asked if Dorna made an offer to buy RNF’s grid spots, Bogdan Maruntis, from CryptoDATA, replied: ‘We cannot reveal the price, but we rejected the price – it is below our investment and we rejected the offer two weeks ago. We have never met with anyone, the only conversation we had was with Dorna at their headquarters, we never met with anyone’.
Regarding the relationship with Aprilia, the Romanian clarified: ‘With Aprilia, we have a business relationship, we have a contract. They have never notified us about canceling the contract or that we will terminate the contract. So, at the moment, we have a valid contract with IRTA and with Aprilia. So far, no one has notified us of the termination of the contracts’.
Maruntis also guaranteed that Aprilia will work closely with RNF in 2024: ‘Yes. They worked close to us this season as well. After the summer break, they gave us more engineers to improve our performance. We have been in contact constantly to achieve the best results. So we are also working for the next season’.
