Osamu Suzuki passed away this Christmas Day, December 25, at the age of 94. He led Suzuki from 1978 to 2016, having joined the company in 1958.
According to the company, the former CEO, president and chairman succumbed to malignant lymphoma. During his tenure at Suzuki, he held various positions and oversaw significant growth in both the automobile and motorcycle sectors.
In the 1970s, Suzuki played a crucial role in saving the company from collapse through a partnership with Toyota Motors, transforming Suzuki into a globally renowned manufacturer. He stepped down from leadership in 2016, handing over the reins to his son Toshiro but remained involved with the company.
He served as chairman until 2021, after which he continued as an advisor to Suzuki Motor Corporation, a company that spans both motorcycle and automobile manufacturing.
