Having switched from a Ducati to a Honda, Luca Marini is going through a natural period of adaptation to the new bike he will be riding in MotoGP this year. A process that took place throughout the preseason and is still ongoing.
The Italian was questioned about his performance in braking, revealing that it requires a different riding style: ‘We are not as strong in braking, especially when we mount the new soft rear tire. We can’t use the rear tire to stop the bike in braking, I don’t know why – while Ducati uses it a lot and they can gain a lot in that moment. So, to try to make the lap time you have to ride differently and that’s why I’m adapting, I’m growing.’
Marini assured that he is making progress in this adaptation: ‘On the last day in Qatar I was riding much more with the Honda style compared to the first day, so this is good. It is certain that on Friday I will try to do even more when the GP starts.’
