Marco Bezzecchi finished the Valencia GP on the first lap after falling in turn 3 in an incident involving the Italian rider and Marc Márquez.
The Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider in the debrief did not hold back criticism of the Spanish rider and the stewards who decided not to penalize Marc Márquez after the incident with Marco Bezzecchi.
– ‘Get ready. The race for me was very short, unfortunately. Marc decided to end my race at turn 3, he did exactly the same to me as he did in Thailand at turns 5 and 6, that is, he hit me from behind. The problem this time was that he hit me with more force and made me crash very early, I hurt my left foot and shoulder, so now I have both my shoulders very good (irony) so, that’s it, I have nothing else to say. I think his driving style doesn’t need much explanation and what’s even better is that they didn’t even show the incident because it was very, very dirty on his part (Marc), from the TV point of view you can see very well what happened, but since it’s Márquez nobody does anything. They investigated the incident, but did nothing, as always. The problem with Márquez is that yesterday it was with Martín, but fortunately nothing serious happened, today with me, in Thailand with me, in Le Mans with Pecco. Most of the time when a rider doesn’t fall everything is fine, but when a rider causes another rider to fall, the least is a damn penalty. Then it happens with other riders, like Brad did and got a Long Lap and that’s how it should be. The race is 27 laps and on the third turn of the first lap, he makes me fall, I think he deserves at least a penalty’.
Questioned about whether he didn’t like going to talk to the stewards after the crash with Marc and talking to the Spanish rider, Bezzecchi replied: ‘I tried, I tried to talk to the stewards and they didn’t want to talk to me, I tried to talk to Carlos Ezpeleta and they didn’t want to talk to me, so I went to Marc’s motorhome to talk to him and asked him “why?” and he replied “I didn’t see you”, it’s impossible not to have seen me, unfortunately. He did the same in Thailand, so… I wanted to finish the year well, but unfortunately Marc didn’t let me. I am happy with three victories and several podiums, I have a fantastic group with me, so I am happy with our season’.
