This year’s Aragon GP will take place from August 30 to September 1, marking its return after a year of absence. Since the Alcañiz circuit entered in 2010, it has hosted the World Championships consecutively until 2022 – including in 2020, when in the midst of a pandemic it not only hosted the Aragon GP, but also the Teruel GP.
Manuel Blasco, president of MotorLand, stated to the circuit’s official website: ‘Thanks to this agreement, the region’s entrepreneurs, fans, and organization can prepare the event in advance. It is very important that people who invest in the territory can plan for three years, which provides a guarantee of operation and success‘.
The agreement was also signed by Dorna’s CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, who commented: ‘We are very pleased to confirm the continuity with the Government of Aragon for a further three seasons covering 2024, 2025, and 2026. The organization of this Grand Prix has always been exemplary and its presence on the calendar shows that it is fully established. The region’s tradition in motor sports is evidence that MotorLand continues with this historical legacy‘.
With four Spanish rounds and the calendar at its limit, the question remains whether the continuation of the Aragon GP could cost the place to any of the other Grand Prix held in Spain. Rotation is planned, but so far only MotorLand has been left out for a year – which happened in 2023.
