The MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix ended with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) taking the victory, with Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in third. Marc Márquez (Gresini) finished fourth, making him the third Ducati rider – despite using last year’s version of the Desmosedici GP.
Following the results in Losail, Jorge Lorenzo stated on his Duralavita YouTube channel: ‘He [Márquez] is already ahead of his brother. But they were still not on equal terms, because the two of them [Bagnaia and Martín] have the 2024 bike while Marc has the 2023 bike, and that’s a big difference. They can always say that Marc doesn’t have the same bike. Now there are no more excuses, but the same goes for Marc‘.
At this stage, Márquez is still adapting to the Ducati and Gresini team. In Losail, he had the help of two days of pre-season testing, which will not be the case in the upcoming rounds – where he will only have two free practices to truly get to know his bike on the respective circuits.
