This morning, the rain returned to fall in Assen, for a third free practice session of the Superbike World Championship in which Nicolò Bulega was the fastest. Due to the weather conditions, no one improved compared to yesterday.
The Italian from Aruba.it Ducati was constantly fighting for the first position, but it was only in the last ten minutes that he set the time that definitively placed him at the top: 1m44.660s. At that time, Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) was in the lead, and the British rider was relegated to second place, finishing 1.089s slower than Bulega.
Axel Bassani (Kawasaki) was third after also leading the session, while Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW) and Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) – the fastest yesterday – closed the top five.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW) was eighth ahead of Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven/Ducati), and Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) finished 14th even though he was one of the riders who had the best time at one point.
Seven riders had times above 105 percent of the fastest, including Xavi Vierge (from the Honda factory team) and the experienced Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW).
