Piaggio officially presented the new MP3 310 this Friday – a three-wheeled scooter with two wheels at the front and one at the back, debuting a new engine while renewing its design, agility, and weight.
The engine is one of the major highlights. With a displacement of 310 cubic centimeters, this single-cylinder unit is the latest in the High Performance Engine (HPE) lineup and complies with Euro 5+ standards. It delivers more power (26.4 hp at 7,500 rpm) and more torque (27.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm). It is paired with a CVT automatic transmission.
It can reach a top speed of 129 km/h, an increase of 9 km/h compared to the previous model – partly thanks to the aerodynamics of the MP3 310. The frame is a double cradle made of tubular steel, and there is a locking mechanism in the front suspension, changing the balance from dynamic to static.
The front suspension is of the articulated quad-lateral type, while two shock absorbers are located at the rear. The brakes consist of two discs at the front and one disc at the rear, along with a three-channel ABS system integrated with pedal braking. The larger front wheels, measuring 13 inches, enhance safety and ride smoothness. The three-wheeled scooter also features the debut of traction control for slip regulation during acceleration (ASR), a first for a Piaggio scooter.
The MP 310 is available in two glossy colors: Bianco Luna white and the new Grigio Grafite gray. The Sport variant, highlighting its sporty character, features a matte metallic black (Nero Meteora) with glossy gray (Grigio Mercurio) and matte blue (Blu Zaffiro). There are also some blue details, including the seat stitching.
Onboard, the rider benefits from the Piaggio MIA connectivity system, which connects to smartphones, but this feature is standard only in the 310 Sport version. Compatible with both iOS and Android devices, it allows users to manage calls and messages that appear on the instrument panel, or even connect to headphones. One example is the special Jet helmet offered as an accessory, featuring integrated headphones and Bluetooth intercom.
But it’s not just calls and music that the Piaggio MIA platform provides access to. Users can utilize the dedicated app to obtain extensive information about the route and the vehicle’s operational status, including real-time engine RPM, power and torque, current and average fuel consumption, and even assess driving style, among other features.
The 5-inch LCD screen on the instrument panel is similar to that of the two MP3 310 models. The seat features two separate places for the rider and passenger, ensuring lumbar support. Below is a spacious storage compartment. The lighting is entirely LED.
