On a morning of record-breaking laps in Le Mans, Moto2 was no exception, thanks to Deniz Öncü and the time that took him to the top of the second free practice session of the French GP.

The session began with Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) leading after the first flying laps, staying in that position for nearly 20 minutes.

Manuel González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex) entered the track later and, with six minutes remaining, beat Salac to become session leader – but without surpassing the time that earned him the lead in Friday’s Practice.

With under two minutes to go, Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) clocked a 1m34.693s lap, setting a new lap record that remained unbeaten through to the end. He finished just 79 thousandths ahead of González.

Salac, who set his session-best time on the very first flying lap, ended up third, followed by Albert Arenas (Italjet Gresini/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro), who completed the top five.
