BMW officially unveiled this Thursday the new R 1300 R – the latest generation of its roadster, sportier and more dynamic than ever.

The bike features a 1,300cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, capable of delivering 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque. It is, therefore, the most powerful boxer ever made by the Bavarian manufacturer.

The steel frame is new, with a rear aluminum subframe, and in terms of suspension, it comes with an inverted front fork and an EVO Paralever II rear suspension.

The new Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) system is optional, allowing electronic adjustment of spring stiffness and load compensation. It’s a debuting technology on a production motorcycle.

As for brakes, at the front there are two discs and two four-piston radial calipers, and at the rear, there’s a disc with a two-piston floating caliper – in both cases with BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. Optionally, a sport braking system can be added, including colored titanium calipers.

Rider comfort hasn’t been overlooked: the ergonomics have been revised, allowing the rider’s body to be positioned more forward on the bike, with a more reactive posture.

In terms of design, BMW Motorrad opted for an aggressive and robust style, highlighted by the new LED front headlight in an octagonal shape. The Exclusive, Performance and Option 719 variants make the R 1300 R even more distinctive and sporty.

Standard equipment includes three riding modes (Rain, Road and Eco), but the optional Riding Modes Pro package adds Dynamic and Dynamic Pro modes for a more dynamic and sporty ride. Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Front Collision Warning (FCW) are available as options.
