Next year, the new BMW R 1300 R will make its debut. This high-displacement naked sports bike is gradually revealing unofficial details.
According to Motorrad Online, production is slated to begin as early as April. The bike will feature a 1,300cc boxer engine – the same as the R 1300 GS – delivering 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque. It is expected that BMW will offer the new ASA automatic transmission as an option for this model.
The front suspension will use a telescopic inverted fork, foregoing the Telelever system for reasons of space and design. At the rear, the bike will feature a Paralever system with a swingarm and central spring support. The frame will shift to steel profiles, possibly complemented by a bolted aluminum rear subframe.
Technical specifications reported by the aforementioned source indicate a weight of 239 kg and a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters. The seat height will measure 810 mm, and the rear tyre will be slightly wider (190/55 ZR 17) compared to the R 1250 R.
