Maverick Viñales is living the best period of his career in MotoGP. The rider is currently with Aprilia since mid-2021 and has grown with the Noale manufacturer, now fighting for top positions.
Prior to that, he went through Suzuki and Yamaha. And especially at Yamaha, the relationship ended badly, due to inconsistent performance. TV commentator Neil Hodgson analyzed Viñales’ journey on TNT Sports:
– His lack of performance led him to the path he took. That’s why he’s with Aprilia. He was with three manufacturers because he wasn’t strong enough with the first one. The reality is that his inconsistency within teams… teams end up losing patience. That was the reality we saw.
Hodgson believes that Viñales will need to add consistency and mental strength to the speed he has shown: ‘His speed? He is as fast as the fastest in the paddock. Everything is 10 out of 10. But you need to be mentally strong in MotoGP. Unfortunately, the slight weakness means he has performance dips‘.
