Another race and a new winner in AMA 250SX, with Nate Thrasher coming out on top against the competition in San Diego. The Yamaha rider was the most lucid in the final part of the race and made the best decisions to win for the first time in 2024. Jordon Smith maintains the championship lead.
RJ Hampshire was the holeshot winner in the main event of the night, with Ryder DiFrancesco right behind, but Levi Kitchen quickly moved up to second place, with Mitchell Oldenburg in third and Jordon Smith in fourth.
Oldenburg was overtaken first by Smith and then by Garrett Marchbanks, but it was Kitchen in the lead who was battling with Hampshire for the lead, while Nate Thrasher was steadily catching up to Smith, fighting for fourth place.
Kitchen was second but crashed and suddenly the battle was for second place. Marchbanks was on a roll and took the lead with the race roughly halfway through, with Thrasher joining the front trio.
As the front riders caught up to the slower riders, which culminated in Thrasher taking advantage of that and moving into the lead. Marchbanks was second and Hampshire was third.
Hampshire saw his third place slip away as he crashed dramatically on the last lap, without getting hurt, but Smith took advantage.
Thus, the victory went to Thrasher, with Marchbanks in second and Smith in third.
