The winner of Stage 2 of the Dakar 2024 has been found: José Ignacio Cornejo was the first to complete the 655 km stage today, finishing the day as the fastest.
Nacho Cornejo took 4h23m21s to go from Al Henakiyah to Al Duwadimi, in a total stage of 655km with 463km of Special, managing to finish with a 6m35s advantage over the second, Luciano Benavides (Huqsvarna).
Closing the podium places was Pablo Quintanilla (Honda), crossing the finish line just 13s after Benavides, with Ricky Brabec (Honda) finishing fourth, ahead of Sebastian Bühler (Hero).
Sam Sunderland (GASGAS) followed, with Toby Price (KTM) in seventh. To close the top ten, Joan Barreda (Hero), Skyler Howes, and Adrien Van Beveren, from Honda.
As for the overall standings, Ross Branch remains in the lead but has lost much of his advantage, now having a 2m30s lead over the second-place Nacho Cornejo, with Brabec arriving in third.
