Álex Márquez arrives at the Catalunya GP in 11th place in the MotoGP World Championship. The Spanish rider from Gresini Racing MotoGP finished in 10th place at the Le Mans GP, a bit below expectations so far.
In the debrief before the Barcelona GP, Álex talked about the expectations he has for this weekend at the Montmeló circuit.
– I really like this circuit, in MotoGP I have never had the best weekend here. We need to understand the track well, the base of the bike changes a lot here, so we will see how it goes. It is a flowing track with few strong braking points and I am usually stronger in that. Aprilia is very good here because they have a bike that turns very quickly and is always on the right trajectory, that’s why they are so fast.
Asked about his future and the Ducati riders, Álex replied: ‘Yes, it’s true that everyone is waiting for Ducati’s decision. Now we just have to wait, I talked to Nadia and I am quite calm. My preference is to continue with Gresini Racing MotoGP. If the decision were mine, I would always choose my brother for the factory team, but either way, Martin or my brother will always be a good decision. The rider they will lose will inevitably be a problem for them (Ducati). The atmosphere in the team is more relaxed, but in the end the goal is to be champion in a factory team. But right now he (Marc) is relaxed because he is fast and very good. At the moment he is very comfortable and as long as he is fast, he is happy, because if he is not, we already know what will happen.’
