MV Agusta and American artist Daniel Arsham are working on a very limited and super-exclusive series of the Superveloce model, which will be called Superveloce Arsham. Only six units will be produced, which, although functional, will be marketed as authentic works of art and not as vehicles. They will therefore be intended for as many collectors as possible and the price will be announced confidentially. The collaboration was announced during Art Basel in Miami, where the motorcycle was presented. The choice of model is not random: the Superveloce is the model that, more than any other, currently represents the design and heritage of MV Agusta with a neo-retro spirit. For this reason, it was chosen by the New York artist, who will use his unique technique, which transforms the idea of the passage of time in a different way. As indicated in the press release, “Arsham creates and crystallizes ambiguous situations in space-time and stages what he calls the future relics of the present.”
Always iconic, most of the objects he creates refer to the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the new millennium, a period that witnesses an unprecedented acceleration of technological obsolescence, together with the digital dematerialization of our world. The present, the past, and the future collide poetically in his intriguing and playful vision. Between romanticism and pop art, Arsham experiments with the timelessness of certain symbols and gestures that cross cultures.”
Timur Sardarov, CEO of MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., said: “I am excited about this amazing collaboration with Arsham, an artist whom I sincerely admire and who shares many values and philosophies with MV Agusta. His work is a true inspiration, and together we will take Motorcycle Art to a new level.”
Daniel Arsham, on the other hand, said: “I have always been fascinated by the automotive world. The ethos conveyed by the design of cars and motorcycles always describes a specific era so well, leaving its mark in time through its lines. The Superveloce project represents an opportunity to explore the concept of “sculpture in motion”, a functioning motorcycle transformed into a sculpture through the addition of crystalline erosions and the application of a color that connects it to my style and other works. With MV Agusta, we have created everything on this motorcycle, including the stand, pushing the boundaries of engineering and providing a new interpretation of Motorcycle Art.”
