The LXP Orioli, as the name suggests, is a tribute to the legend Edi Orioli, who has always been a man very close to the Varese-based company and who will sign all 500 copies of this first limited edition one by one.
A new three-cylinder with plenty of torque
The engine is a new 931 cc three-cylinder, developed entirely in Varese. Development was driven by the destiny of a model like the LXP Orioli, which must be both excellent in terms of performance and suitable for very different riding contexts. The new three-cylinder is powerful, rich in torque, versatile in delivery and particularly light at just 57 kg, an average of 10% less than the direct competition. In its standard version, the engine has 124 hp at 10,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm; the specific power is 133 hp/liter and 85% of the torque is only available at 3,000 rpm.
The latest electronics
The LXP Orioli can count on a particularly advanced 6-axis inertial platform that interacts with the on-board electronics, consisting of the engine management unit equipped with a high-frequency microprocessor. Full Ride by Wire is based on torque management strategies; the available maps are Urban, Touring, Off-Road and Custom All-Terrain, specially developed to guarantee the correct delivery and the ideal electronic control settings in the different action contexts. The traction control, which can be switched off, has 5 levels of intervention for road use, 2 developed for off-road use and a Rain mode to guarantee maximum safety even in adverse driving conditions.
As well as offering great safety when cornering, the cornering ABS also includes RLM (Rear Wheel Lift-Up Mitigation) functionality, and has a unique strategy in its class, as well as others specifically dedicated to off-road use, including the option to turn it off completely or only on the rear wheel.
Maximum technology also goes into the throttle control which, as in the entire three-cylinder range, has a negative stroke, important for increasing feel and for smoothly managing the cruise control release. The latter can be set to increase or decrease speed by 1 km/h or 5 km/h at a time. The key management system is completely keyless.
In terms of quality and finish, the instrumentation is inspired by the world of luxury cars, thanks to the extensive connection possibilities via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the HD resolution of the 7-inch color TFT panel and the adjustable brightness. Two graphics are available, which can be chosen according to the user’s taste. The MV Ride application, common to the entire range, allows users to connect a smartphone, configure turn-by-turn navigation, save routes and driving data and share them in the community with other users. What’s more, thanks to the MV RideApp, users can configure their LXP Orioli via their smartphone, even before starting the engine. The Mobisat anti-theft device with integrated geolocation is part of the LXP Orioli’s standard equipment.
Also standard on the LXP Orioli is the all-LED front and rear lighting system, which guarantees perfect visibility in all light conditions. To further enhance the user experience, the controls on the handlebars are LED backlit.
The frame of the LXP Orioli is a “perimeter” type frame, made of light alloy due to the optimization of thicknesses, with a removable rear frame; the design is a closed double cradle, with optimized stiffness values to offer the ideal balance in different situations, such as touring road use and pure off-road use. The Sachs fork is adjustable in all functions: compression, extension and spring preload, with a wheel travel of 210 mm; the adjustable Sachs monoshock provides 210 mm of wheel travel and is connected to the suspension via a progressive link.
The seat is height-adjustable in two positions (850 mm and 870 mm) to suit different contexts and riders. The shape and material of the upholstery have been developed to ensure comfort and support, both on and off the road. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques, the outer shell guarantees comfort, durability and waterproofing in the most extreme driving conditions.
The ground clearance is an impressive 230 mm, ideal for tackling the pitfalls of off-road driving. The wheelbase is 1610 mm; the wheel diameter is typical of off-road enduros, with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel. The bike is approved for use with road tires and Bridgestone. The brakes are supplied by Brembo, with Stylema calipers at the front with 320 mm diameter discs and two-piston calipers with 265 mm discs at the rear.
The development of aerodynamics has created a calm zone around the driver and passenger that protects them from uncomfortable turbulence, making driving even more comfortable. Ergonomics has been at the heart of the LXP project from the outset: the contact points (footpegs, handlebars and seat) have been designed with the aim of offering all the comfort needed for long-distance journeys for the rider and passenger, even with luggage, and guaranteeing the off-road efficiency needed to control the bike in the most critical situations, where the knees contribute to perfect control of the vehicle.
