The LXP Orioli, as the name suggests, is a tribute to the legend Edi Orioli, who has always been very close to the company based in Varese and will sign each of the 500 copies of this first limited edition.
A new three-cylinder with plenty of torque
The engine is the new 931 cc 3-cylinder, developed entirely in Varese. The development was driven by the destiny of a model like the LXP Orioli, which must be both excellent in terms of performance and suitable for very different driving contexts. The new three-cylinder is powerful, rich in torque, versatile in delivery, and particularly light at only 57 kg, an average of 10% less than direct competition. In its standard version, the engine has 124 hp at 10,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm; the specific power is 133 hp/liter and 85% of the torque is available only at 3,000 rpm.
The ultimate in electronics
LXP Orioli can rely on a particularly advanced 6-axis inertial platform that interacts with the onboard electronics, consisting of the engine management unit equipped with a high-frequency microprocessor. The Full Ride by Wire is based on torque management strategies; the available maps are Urban, Touring, Off-Road, and Custom All-Terrain, specially developed to ensure correct delivery and ideal electronic control settings in different action contexts. The traction control, which can be turned off, has 5 levels of intervention for road use, 2 developed for off-road use, and a Rain mode to ensure maximum safety even in adverse driving conditions.
In addition to offering great safety in curves, Curve ABS also includes the RLM (Rear Wheel Lift-Up Mitigation) functionality, and has a unique strategy in its class, as well as others specifically dedicated to off-road use, including the option to completely turn it off or only on the rear wheel.
Maximum technology also for throttle control which, as in the entire three-cylinder range, has negative travel, important to increase the sensation and to smoothly manage disengagement of the Cruise Control. The latter can be adjusted to increase or decrease speed by 1 km/h or 5 km/h at a time. The key management system is completely keyless.
In terms of quality and finish, the instrumentation is inspired by the world of luxury cars, thanks to the extensive Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, the HD resolution of the 7-inch color TFT panel, and adjustable brightness. Two graphics are available, which can be chosen according to the user’s preference. The MV Ride application, common to the entire range, allows users to connect a smartphone, set up turn-by-turn navigation, save routes and driving data, and share them with the community of other users. Additionally, thanks to the MV RideApp, users can configure their LXP Orioli via their smartphone, even before starting the engine. The Mobisat anti-theft device with integrated geolocation is part of the standard equipment of the LXP Orioli.
Also included in the standard equipment of the LXP Orioli is the fully LED front and rear lighting system, which ensures perfect visibility in all lighting conditions. To further enhance the user experience, the handlebar controls are backlit with LED lights.
The LXP Orioli frame is a “perimeter” type frame, made of light alloy due to thickness optimization, with a removable rear frame; the design is a closed double cradle, with stiffness values optimized to offer the ideal balance in different situations, such as touring road use and pure off-road use. The Sachs fork is adjustable in all functions: compression, extension, and spring preload, with a wheel travel of 210 mm; the adjustable Sachs monoshock provides 210 mm of wheel travel and is connected to the suspension through a progressive link.
The seat is adjustable in height in two positions (850 mm and 870 mm) to adapt to different contexts and riders. The shape and material of the seat were developed to ensure comfort and support, both on and off the road. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques, the outer covering ensures comfort, durability, and waterproofing in the most extreme riding conditions.
The ground clearance is an impressive 230 mm, ideal for tackling off-road driving hazards. The wheelbase is 1610 mm; the wheel diameter is typical of all-terrain enduros, with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel. The bike is approved for use with road and Bridgestone tires. The brakes are supplied by Brembo, with Stylema calipers at the front with 320 mm diameter discs and two-piston calipers with 265 mm discs at the rear.
The development of aerodynamics has created a calm zone around the driver and passenger that protects them from uncomfortable turbulence, making the driving experience even more comfortable. Ergonomics is at the core of the LXP project from the beginning: the contact points (footrests, handlebars, and seat) were designed to offer all the necessary comfort for long-distance trips for both the driver and passenger, even with luggage, and ensure the off-road effectiveness needed to control the motorcycle in the most critical situations, where the knees contribute to the perfect vehicle control.
