The luxurious All Terrain from MV Agusta is included in the recently released price list by the manufacturer based in Schiranna. It is a highly innovative motorcycle for MV Agusta, entering the Adventure segment with a 21-inch front wheel with a motorcycle, the LXP, which we first saw at EICMA 2021, when an entire area of the MV stand was monopolized (as well as invaded by enthusiasts) by two motorcycles under the Lucky Explorer Project brand, the 9.5 and the 5.5 with two cylinders, a name and a paint scheme that unmistakably evoke the African Raids of the 90s. While the smaller of the two Adventures has been lost and we currently do not believe its arrival in production is likely, the 9.5 has completed its development process and is now ready for MV Agusta customers.
In the meantime, we first gave the name Enduro Veloce to the motorcycle, then we arrived at this latest – exclusive – LXP Orioli Limited Edition which is priced at €30,600, a certainly high price for a super premium product that, however, reflects the uniqueness of the project and also some of its characteristics that make it a motorcycle that certainly would not look out of place in prestigious collections.
The connection, in fact, with African races and their champions has remained strong, especially with Edi Orioli who won two Paris-Dakar races with the Cagiva Elefant married to the Lucky Explorer and who signs one by one the 500 units of the LXP Orioli Limited Edition. But beyond the collector’s value, there is much more, from the engine to the construction and design fully realized in Schiranna.
The new three-cylinder has a cubic capacity of 931 cc with a MotoGP diameter (81 mm), develops 124 hp at 10,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm; the specific power is 133 hp/liter and 85% of the torque is available at just 3,000 rpm. Among motorcycles with a 21-inch front wheel, it is the only one with a counter-rotating crankshaft, a peculiarity derived from MV Agusta road motorcycles, whose benefits we will evaluate when we test the LXP. The electronics have also evolved, with a six-axis inertia platform with ABS and TC that can be deactivated for off-road use, 7-inch TFT display, available from the MV Ride App, as well as connectivity that allows you to configure your LXP Orioli using your smartphone even before starting the engine. The Mobisat anti-theft system with integrated geolocation is part of the standard equipment of the LXP Orioli, as well as Cornering ABS.
On the frame side, the steel frame with aluminum swingarm is coupled with Sachs suspension, with fully adjustable forks with 210 mm of travel, exactly the same travel for the rear wheel provided by the progressive rear shock absorber. To meet the needs of riders of different heights, the seat height is adjustable in two positions (850 mm and 870 mm). The brakes are supplied by Brembo, with Stylema calipers at the front on 320 mm diameter discs and a two-piston caliper with a 265 mm disc at the rear, while the ground clearance is 230 mm.
The dry weight of the LXP Orioli Limited Edition is 224 kg and the motorcycle is delivered with a homologated titanium exhaust, designed and developed in co-design between MV Agusta and Termignoni, combined with a carbon fiber cover and heat shield, motorcycle cover and certificate of authenticity.
