The new year started this Monday and, in less than a month, the MotoGP bikes will be back on the tracks. The shakedown in Sepang will take place from February 1st to 3rd, followed by tests on the same circuit.
This year, there are some news regarding the shakedown. The newly implemented concessions system allows the possibility for the regular riders of the constructors in the D concessions category to participate – which means that the riders from Monster Energy Yamaha, Repsol Honda, and LCR Honda will be in action right away. In addition to them, the test riders from any constructor will also join, as well as the only rookie of the year – Pedro Acosta (GasGas Tech3/KTM).
After the three days of shakedown, MotoGP continues in Malaysia and in Sepang for the first three days of official tests from February 6th to 8th. Later, Losail in Qatar will host two days of tests on February 19th and 20th. The same track will mark the start of the season from March 8th to 10th with the traditional Qatar GP.
