After a nine-season stay in the premier class, in which he rode for Suzuki, Honda, Aprilia, and Ducati. Before MotoGP, Álvaro Bautista was a world champion in the former 125cc category with Aprilia in 2006 and a runner-up in the 250cc world championship. Currently, the Spanish rider is the reigning two-time champion in the Superbike World Championship.
The experienced athlete compared the two categories of motorcycle racing.
‘Before, you had more options to control the bike. Now it’s more difficult because of the aerodynamics, it requires changes in the riding style. The bikes are more cumbersome in terms of movement. If you don’t know how to use aerodynamics, you’re lost. I liked it more when you could have better control over the situation,’ described Bautista in an interview with Motorsport-total.com, quoted by Motosan.
‘In WSBK, it’s possible to control the bike with the rear, there’s good traction. In MotoGP, when you lose traction with the rear tire, you can’t recover. MotoGP has more power at the bottom, but you have to be careful with the throttle. Here, the riders compete at the highest level, there’s no doubt about that. Now, the riders are much closer, the bikes are much closer together. There’s a very high level in MotoGP,’ concluded the 39-year-old rider.
