Miguel Oliveira finished the MotoGP Malaysian GP practice in 19th place, which means he will have to go through the first phase of qualifying in Sepang. The CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team rider even managed to be in the top five, but was unable to keep up with the pace of the leaders in the final part of the session.
With his first timed lap, the rider from Almada placed himself in 14th, but immediately went faster than in the first free practice. Despite improving his time, he dropped to 19th. After just two laps, he went back to the pits.
After a few minutes in the garage, Oliveira returned to the track with two medium tires on the Aprilia and immediately improved to move up to 12th and then to third. Before returning to the pits, he dropped to fourth.
Already in the second half hour, #88 embarked on a new sequence of laps with two medium tires. Without improving on this track exit, he dropped to fifth place, due to the improvement of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia).
During his time in the garage, Oliveira was overtaken by several riders, falling out of the top ten. Only in the last six minutes did the Portuguese start a new series of laps. However, he couldn’t improve and was relegated to 19th place. He was 1.327s slower than the leader Jorge Martín (Pramac/Ducati).
