The rain arrived at the Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto, and Miguel Oliveira showed a good pace in the conditions this morning. The Trackhouse Racing rider finished sixth in the second free practice of the Spanish GP, second among those who will go through Q1 in a few minutes – just behind teammate Raúl Fernández, who was fourth.
The day started rainy in Jerez, so the riders started this practice with rain tires and the Portuguese was no exception. Lap times don’t count for anything in this FP2, so it was a preparation session for the rest of the weekend and not an attack on the stopwatch.
On his first flying lap, Oliveira was in 21st position, which he improved to fifth shortly after… before reaching fourth. The good performance in the rain continued and, on his sixth flying lap, he climbed back up the table to put himself in third, just behind Fernández.
He then entered the pits, having dropped to fourth in the meantime. When he returned to the track in the last ten minutes, Oliveira had dropped to fifth. Until the end, the rider from Almada did not improve again, finishing sixth 0.611s behind the leader, Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati).
