It was announced this Monday that the MotoGP Selection Committee has chosen not to select the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team for the 2024 MotoGP season. However, the Aprilia satellite team is not at risk, nor are its riders Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández. And they may even be on track tomorrow with the new identity at the Valencia tests.
It is known that there are interested parties in the spot in the grid – with talk of American investors, whose identity has not been officially mentioned, although Trackhouse Racing is being pointed to. With the first test for 2024 already tomorrow, the transition may not take long to happen.
In fact, there are indications that the successor to RNF may be known by tomorrow and already be on track at the Valencia tests. Two bikes used by Maverick Viñales in the Valencia GP will be available for Fernández.
Despite everything, the majority shareholder of RNF – CryptoDATA – continues to be at odds with Dorna and IRTA, ensuring that they have a valid contract until 2026 and there is no possibility of terminating or not renewing it for 2024. The Selection Committee speaks of ‘repeated violations and breaches of the Participation Agreement.’ Appearing to be a situation where both sides believe they are in the right, the resolution may be complicated and be a topic of discussion during this winter, about four months before the start of the new season.
