Miguel Oliveira returned to being 15th in the training session for the French MotoGP Grand Prix. The Trackhouse Racing driver was far from being able to fight for a top ten that would guarantee him direct qualification for the second phase of qualifying.
In the initial phase of the training session, with his first lap, #88 was in 14th place despite being faster than in the morning. On his second lap, he moved into the top ten.
However, even though he improved to 1m31s, he was overtaken, dropping to 11th and subsequently to 13th. He made his first visit to the pits with about fifteen minutes elapsed. When he returned to action, about 36 minutes before the checkered flag, he was in 15th place.
He remained in that position without improving his time on this second outing on the track, although he maintained a consistent pace in the 1m32s. Oliveira returned to the track in the last quarter of an hour, with a new hard tire in front and a new soft tire in the back. When he improved, it was not enough to go beyond 14th.
However, when he returned to the pits, the Portuguese was in 16th position. In the last five minutes, he began his final series of laps. With a used hard tire in front and a new soft tire in the back, he quickly improved to 13th. However, he dropped in the standings again and ended up in 15th, being the lowest ranked among the Aprilia riders.
