Miguel Oliveira left Mugello with only two points. The rider from Almada finished 14th in the main race of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix on Sunday, being the lowest ranked among the four Aprilia riders.
Once again, the start was not good for the Portuguese, who lost four positions on the first lap, dropping to 15th behind his Trackhouse Racing teammate, Raúl Fernández. He regained a position on the next lap, but only briefly.
Between 15th and 14th is where Oliveira settled in the following laps. He managed to close in on the 13th-placed rider, Álex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha), before overtaking him on lap 10.
Thus, #88 found himself immediately behind Fernández again. Oliveira spent a good part of the race in 13th place. He gradually closed in on the Spaniard, but a mistake caused him to lose position to Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati) on lap 19.
Until the end, Oliveira couldn’t react or keep up with Bezzecchi, finishing in 14th place.
