The qualification for the MotoGP Americas Grand Prix has come to an end for Miguel Oliveira. The Portuguese rider could only manage fourth place in Q1, despite leading the time sheets at one point.
After an unrepresentative first lap, the Trackhouse Racing man took the lead with his second attempt: one of three riders to lap in the 2m01s, marking his best lap of the weekend up to that point.
Following a brief pit stop to change the rear tire, Oliveira had two more attempts to try and secure a top two position.
In the first attempt, he couldn’t improve, dropping to fourth in the standings. The same happened on the following lap, which he didn’t even complete, leaving Oliveira in fourth in Q1.
This corresponds to 14th place on the starting grid, just behind his teammate Raúl Fernández. Oliveira missed out on the second phase of qualifying by 0.291s.
