After talking about the desire to justify Aprilia’s bet on itself, especially after a 2023 marked by many injuries – most of the time caused by other riders – Miguel Oliveira believes that it is too early to talk about a hypothetical renewal of his contract, and went further, even asking for greater intervention and regulation in this aspect of MotoGP.
The Portuguese even started by drawing a parallel between the category and two others that are quite distinct: ‘It’s not like Nascar or football, which have two transfer windows. We have two months in which we can make contracts. If no one is satisfied in June, we can change, it’s like halfway through the season’.
Oliveira then looked at the current state of the competition, from the contractual point of view of some riders, asking the responsible entities to take action on the rider market and timings to act, even speaking of… ‘chaos’:
– At the moment, we have seen contracts being terminated before they end, riders with valid contracts staying at home, so finally, there is a bit of chaos. So, it should be regulated, but it is not up to me to decide that, but rather to play by the rules we have and deal with the situation in the best possible way.
