After returning to the top ten with a tenth place finish at the MotoGP Catalunya GP, Miguel Oliveira is getting ready to face the Italian GP. It is one of the home rounds of the year for Aprilia, the manufacturer he represents by being in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team.
Currently in 13th in the championship, the Portuguese rider surely hopes to do better than in Barcelona – considering he admitted that the performance was disappointing despite the final result.
Nevertheless, Oliveira does not expect an easy race. In a statement, the rider highlighted that Mugello is a challenging circuit considering its characteristics and those of the current bikes:
– Mugello is one of the most special events of the year in the incredible landscape of Tuscany. The track layout is very challenging as we have several changes of direction and that makes it very difficult with these heavy bikes and all the speed we have on the main straight, which makes it very difficult to stop the bike for the first corner. But it’s a fantastic track. I have great memories there with my first Moto3 victory. It’s simply a very special place.
In the past, Oliveira’s best result in Mugello in MotoGP was second place in 2021, when he was with Red Bull KTM. In the lower categories, he had two wins: in 2015 (Moto3) and in 2018 (Moto2).
