The World Superbike continues this weekend in Assen, where Michael van der Mark competes at home. The ROKiT BMW rider faces a special circuit, but one he also doesn’t have good memories of after last year’s serious accident. And the goal is, naturally, to step onto the podium.
The Dutchman said in a statement: ‘It’s very nice to arrive in Assen, my home round, and I think we are arriving there at the right time. We had two very good rounds before coming to Assen with a lot of confidence, which is always good, so I’m looking forward to it’.
Van der Mark admitted that he will have a busy schedule, in addition to highlighting the competitiveness of the bike: ‘It will be a busy weekend for me with lots of friends and family, but it’s great. It’s only once a year, so I will enjoy it and I think we have now shown that the base of the bike is very good and we can be really competitive’.
As for the goals he sets, after finishing fourth in Barcelona, he wants to go further in Assen: ‘My goal for the weekend is to fight for podiums and it would be fantastic to step onto the podium at my home round’.
