Marco Simoncelli was one of the young promises of MotoGP when, in 2011, he died due to an accident at the Malaysian GP. What his career would have been like is something that can only be imagined, and his father, Paolo, believes that he would have had a considerable longevity.
On the last Saturday, Marco would have turned 37, and his father, Paolo, spoke to MOW Mag: ‘Sometimes, I imagine Marco as an adult, as a more mature rider. But I can’t. He was like that and, probably, he would have remained a child forever’.
About how Marco Simoncelli’s career could have been without the fateful accident in Sepang, his father said: ‘Today he would be 37 years old and, if I think about it, I don’t know if Marco would have asked the same question. With that passion he had, with that unique interest that were motorcycle races… maybe he would have gone much further than Valentino Rossi. Maybe we should have spanked him to get him out of motorcycles. Already with all gray hair, at 50 years old’.
