Francesco Bagnaia once again impressed in the Qatar tests. Like in Sepang, he was the fastest in these MotoGP pre-season tests with a lap time of 1m50.952s, which was below the official circuit record.
The Italian believes there might still be room for improvement. In statements to the press, the Ducati rider explained that he did the time attack just with one soft tyre, admitting that with two attempts it might be possible to go even faster:
– I pushed like always when you have to do a time attack. But it was the first time I put the soft [tyre], so I don’t know how much you can improve still this lap time – maybe in the qualifying with two tyres you can improve it a bit. But it was more important to do also laps with the soft tyre to try a Sprint simulation, so we decided to use the second one just for that. But it was enough to do just one time attack.
