The new pole position winner for the Moto3 French GP has been found, with a rookie in the spotlight practically from the start to the end of qualifying: Máximo Quiles.

We were moments away from knowing who would start from pole position in the Moto3 French GP, with Jacob Roulstone, Luca Lunetta, Vicente Pérez and Nicola Carraro securing the right to dream after being fastest in Q1.

David Muñoz was among the first fastest, but it was Maximo Quiles who moved to the front with a 1:40.301, with the Spaniard improving his time to 1:39.947, ahead of Ángel Piqueras by more than half a second, with Adrián Fernández in turn by more than 0.6s.

Luca Lunetta crashed at turn 6, with the bike in a somewhat dangerous position for the stewards to remove it from the track, which they did successfully and without risk to anyone involved – riders or officials.

The session quickly reached the halfway point, with Álvaro Carpe being investigated by the race stewards for possibly leaving the pitlane with the light still red, something that would be confirmed later, with the rider having his first fast time canceled.

Jose Antonio Rueda meanwhile came in second, minutes after the session resumed, with Quiles still the fastest, now with Piqueras 0.202s behind. Joel Kelso was next, 0.098s off the #28.

The session continued but without any major changes, with the highlight being Quiles’ pole position, which he confirmed by being the only one to lap in second 39. Guido Pini was second fastest, 0.089s off the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team Spaniard.
