Mattia Casadei clinched victory in Race 2 of the MotoE French GP in Le Mans. The reigning champion ends the opening round of the season at the top of the championship standings.

Óscar Gutiérrez (MSI Racing Team) got off to a strong start, taking the lead ahead of Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward) in second and Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar) in third.

However, at the start of the second lap, Gutiérrez crashed at the chicane and was subsequently struck by Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE). Fortunately, both riders escaped serious injury and were able to walk away, although Zaccone was taken to the medical center for evaluation.

Zannoni inherited the lead, while Casadei (LCR E-Team) – who had started from ninth – climbed to second place. Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini) was running third.

After a fierce battle, Casadei overtook Zannoni on lap four, just as Ferrari crashed out. Nicholas Spinelli (Rivacold Snipers Team) moved into third, followed closely by Jordi Torres (Power Electronics Aspar), who overtook Spinelli early in lap five.

Once in front, Casadei continued to feel pressure from Zannoni but eventually pulled away. He crossed the finish line with a 1.225-second lead. Torres secured third place despite late pressure from a surprising María Herrera (Klint Forward).

Spinelli slipped down to sixth, overtaken by Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP), who completed the top five.

After one round, Casadei leads the championship by three points over Zannoni, with Mantovani third, seven points behind. Gutiérrez, the winner of Race 1, is now fourth overall, 11 points off the top.
