In October 2023, the market for new two-wheeled and tricycle vehicles recorded a growth of 23.4 percent compared to October 2022, with 3,579 units registered. The quadricycle market in category L saw an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, with 162 vehicles registered.
In cumulative terms, from January to October 2023, 40,905 new two and three-wheeled vehicles were registered in Portugal, representing an increase of 14.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022. As for quadricycles, they showed a decrease of 1.0 percent in the same period.
In an individual analysis of the main types of vehicles during the mentioned period, the following was observed:
– Mopeds The market for newly registered mopeds totaled 132 units in October 2023, showing a negative variation of 17.5 percent compared to the same month in 2022. In cumulative terms, from January to October 2023, 1,816 mopeds were registered, representing a 15.1 percent decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.
– Motorcycles In the month of October 2023, 3,432 motorcycles were registered in Portugal, representing a 25.9 percent growth compared to the same month in 2022. In cumulative terms, from January to October 2023, the number of registered units increased by 16.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, with 38,837 new motorcycles being put into circulation. Motorcycles with a displacement of up to 125 cc registered a total of 1,793 units in Portugal in the tenth month of the year, representing a 25.5 percent increase compared to the same month in 2022. As for the cumulative number of motorcycles up to 125 cc registered in the first ten months of 2023, it stood at 20,321 units, representing a 6.5 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Regarding motorcycles with a displacement greater than 125 cc, 1,639 vehicles of this type were registered in October 2023, representing a 26.5 percent increase compared to the same month in 2022. Cumulatively, between January and October 2023, 18,516 motorcycles with a displacement greater than 125 cc were registered, representing a 28.8 percent growth compared to the same period of the previous year.
– Tricycles In October 2023, the tricycle market experienced a 6.3 percent decrease compared to the same month of the previous year, with 15 units registered. From January to October 2023, the tricycle market registered 252 vehicles, marking a 23.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
