After finishing third last year, Marco Bezzecchi started the 2024 MotoGP season in a frustrating and distant position. He finished the main race of the Qatar GP in 14th, never having the means to fight for higher positions.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider explained that he is not able to reach the level that the other riders with the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 have: ‘Of course I look at the riders in front, but also at the Márquez brothers and my teammate; they have the same specification as me. And they were able to ride much faster than me throughout the whole weekend, in time attacks, in race pace. So, I am trying to focus on them, I am trying to look at the data, understand why I am lacking some speed. The problem is that I am not able to do what they are doing at the moment‘.
Next, Bezzecchi specified his problems: ‘I don’t have confidence in the front end to release the brakes, the bike is not turning. Because of this, I lose speed in the corner, I accelerate late or I go too slow inside the corner because if not the bike doesn’t turn, so I open the throttle too early. But I end up with the tire. I am having some difficulties, but I am also working hard, so I will get there. It’s a bit frustrating, but also motivating‘.
