Marco Bezzecchi continues far from fighting for the top positions in this new MotoGP season. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider switched to the 2023 version of Ducati and, after finishing 14th in Qatar, he only managed sixth in the Portuguese GP.
After the race, the Italian revealed to the press that his braking straight has already improved. However, he admitted that there are still aspects where he has shortcomings and that with the loss of grip he was able to achieve better lap times:
– I am still lacking in the entry part, but especially in the turning point, in the middle of the corner. I am slower compared to other riders in that area. I still have difficulties in making the bike turn. But as soon as the grip decreased a bit, I was able to achieve better lap times compared to the beginning, so it was very strange.
Despite considering that there were improvements in Portimão, Bezzecchi emphasized that it is still not enough: ‘Overall, comparing to Sepang and Doha, we have improved a lot. But we are still a bit too far from the front riders. So we need to keep working this way and try to keep improving’.
