This season had two very important moments in which Michelin was involved in controversy, as first (in a decisive stage) Pecco Bagnaia complained about problems with the tire that caused him to fall, and then in Losail, Jorge Martín, who even spoke of possible sabotage. Marco Bezzecchi, third in the overall classification, spoke about the tire supplier.
The Italian is not exactly the most experienced rider in MotoGP at this time, but he already has enough experience to praise… and complain about the tires, as he explained to Motosan in a conversation with Manuel Pecino: ‘I have known Michelin for two years, since I arrived in MotoGP, so I think the tires are really competitive and the technical package they offer us is good. It is also true that occasionally, unfortunately, it happens, but it happens to everyone to find tires that work differently, but like in all things in the world, there is always something that is a little different’.
Bezzecchi himself was not free from such strange problems, as he recalled: ‘It happened to me three times this year in Mugello, in Thailand, in the Sprint, in Malaysia, and in FP2 in Qatar’.
And he added, saying that it is “easy” to judge the tires: ‘Unfortunately, these things happen, especially when we leave Europe, because the tires have to wait a long time to arrive, so I know it is easy to always attack them, but I think they do not want to cause problems. I think everyone does their best and, from my experience, they work well, so I have nothing to complain about at the moment. Unfortunately, these things happen from time to time and they have happened at least once to all MotoGP riders this year’.
