Marc Márquez may have been away from MotoGP titles since 2019, but he remains one of the standout figures in the field. In 2024, he proved this by taking a Gresini Ducati Desmosedici GP23 to third place overall.

On several occasions, the Spaniard directly battled with the two title contenders – Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) – and managed to secure three main race victories.

Journalist Jaime Alguersuari praised Márquez’s talent, highlighting the multiple titles he achieved since 2013, often overshadowing his teammates at Honda:

– Márquez, over ten years, won six world titles. Márquez, over six years, had teammates, and it was different – from [Dani] Pedrosa to [Jorge] Lorenzo, very strong riders. Why didn’t anyone ask – all the commentators – who was the runner-up when Márquez won those six titles? The «yours-mine-yours-mine-yours-mine», who was it? It was never his teammate. What they did, on average, was seventh.

The commentator on the Dura la Vita podcast concluded by emphasizing that it was Márquez, not the bike, that made the difference: ‘I have a question: if he wins six titles and his teammates average seventh place and were never runners-up, who wins – the rider or the bike? Logic clearly says Márquez won’.
