Marc Márquez continues with his destiny still officially to be announced, but everything suggests that in 2024 he should be with Gresini Racing. However, this does not prevent the rider from making some considerations about the championship where the riders at the helm of the Desmosedici are in particularly good shape, and it is the opinion of the Spaniard that Jorge Martín will be the champion this year.
The current season has been marked by a close race between the riders at the helm of the GP23, with Martín (Prima Pramac Racing) gaining many points recently over Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), and they are currently only three points apart after the Japanese GP, with 222 points still up for grabs.
Marc Márquez has a very clear idea on the subject and, quoted by AS, gave his opinion on who is the favorite for the final victory: ‘For me, it will be Jorge Martín. Their speed is very similar and both have their strengths. But Martín has nothing to lose, and Bagnaia has everything’
It is Márquez’s opinion that the fact that Martín is not part of the factory team ends up serving as extra motivation, while Bagnaia, the current world champion and with factory insignia, ends up having some pressure to present “other” results. Furthermore, Martín is currently in great form and on a winning streak, with the gap to the Italian getting smaller and smaller: ‘When you have that extra concentration and speed, everything flows, and you feel that sensation with the bike’.
There is still to remember the impact that Martín is having this year despite not being with the official team, in a “race” won by Enea Bastianini who started the season with a major injury and is still far from showing the potential that earned him a factory seat.
