Marc Marquez “shocked” the MotoGP world after officially announcing that he and Honda would be parting ways at the end of the season. The star reflected on the decision made, the team of his ‘life’, and is now eager to see if he made a ‘good choice’.
In an interview with Crash.net, the main face of Honda for many years was asked what was the best advice he received on this matter and what was crucial in making this decision regarding his future, and in his response, the rider confessed that he looked more at himself, something he didn’t always do:
– The best advice was to think of myself, only myself. Just think of myself, because I am the kind of person who, most of the time, thinks more about the people around me than myself. I prefer to see the happiness of the people around me, the team, rather than my own. But then the best advice was ‘think of yourself’.
This change was not easy, as I have said countless times, especially after the very special relationship you have with your current brand, while now only time will tell if you made the right decision: ‘And yes, it was a big decision, especially leaving my team. The team of my career in MotoGP. The team of my life, which is the Repsol Honda team, with all the Japanese and Spanish staff we have here. It was difficult, but we will see if [Gresini] is a good choice’.
