Market surprise in the MotoGP World Championship. Marc Márquez is indeed leaving Repsol Honda, and he won’t be leaving alone – taking with him Repsol and Red Bull, his two main sponsors.
The destination? Gresini Racing. If confirmed, the six-time champion would ride a Ducati, but for the first time he would be in a satellite team. And, as a teammate, he would have his brother Álex Márquez.
The rumor comes from the credible Óscar Haro. On social media, the former LCR Honda manager stated: ‘Big bomb that has just been dropped on me: Marc Márquez is going to Gresini team, with brother Álex Márquez, surely with Red Bull, Repsol, and Estrella Galicia‘.
At a time when it is in serious difficulties to be competitive, Honda would suffer a strong “blow” to its project here: it would lose two important sponsors and partners, in addition to the one that has been its reference pilot for a decade. However, for now, everything is just speculation and Márquez has a valid contract until 2024.
