Regarding the comments of some riders about the expected wind, including Miguel Oliveira, Márquez stated: ‘Here it is always windy, dangerous and everything else: it is dangerous if we have a wall too close, it is dangerous if we have aquaplaning on the straight like the red flag in Motegi but, if it is very windy, if the track is dirty we will be slower and it is not so dangerous. The risk is related to you, but for me it’s ok’.
However, the Spanish rider issued a warning about how the wind may affect the current characteristics of the bikes: ‘Of course, it is more difficult when it is windy but it is also true that these bikes are increasingly difficult because of all the aerodynamics because we feel the wind much more but it is MotoGP’.
Asked if he could make a difference on this track, where the rider’s qualities usually stand out, Márquez replied: ‘[Laughs] Let’s see because one of the most important things on this track is the rear traction: having good traction in turn 4 and in all the uphill sections, in turns six, seven and eight, we’ll see, we have to understand. It is true that it is a track where you can push if you feel you can. If you don’t feel it, it’s better to stay calm’.
