Beware of Marc Márquez. In the opinion of Jorge Lorenzo, who has won three MotoGP world championships, the compatriot is the main candidate to win the title in 2024, when everything indicates he will be racing with the Gresini Racing team.
‘I do not rule out the possibility of Marc being able to win the MotoGP World Championship. This, of course, if Ducati gives him a competitive bike, like the ones that Bagnaia and Bastianini have. I do not discard this possibility because we have seen what Álex Márquez was capable of, he who is an excellent rider, a world champion in Moto3 and Moto2. Perhaps he does not have the aggressiveness or natural talent of his brother,’ started by saying the Spaniard, who raced with Marc in 2019 with Honda, in statements to DAZN, before adding:
– Marc can run a few tenths and seconds faster than his brother Álex. And I believe that will be evident when both are at Ducati.
After 11 years at Honda, the expectation is to see how Márquez will adapt to a new reality.
‘We will see if he will be able to adapt quickly or if it will cost him a little more. But if he adapts quickly and has a bike similar to [Enea] Bastianini and [Pecco] Bagnaia, I would not rule out the possibility of him winning the championship in this first season. In the past, we have seen similar cases. In my opinion, Marc continues to be the best, both physically and mentally. I don’t count him out of the title fight,’ Jorge Lorenzo threw.
2023 is heating up and next season seems like it won’t be any different…
