Marc Márquez and Pedro Acosta had an intense battle yesterday during the long race at Losail, with the rookie managing to overtake the veteran. The former world champion praised the way #31 passed him, considering it a ‘champion’s attitude’.
In statements to the press in Qatar, Márquez, who ended up returning the maneuver to the rookie, recalled the moment he saw Acosta overtake him: ‘He passed me and I was expecting it, because on Saturday he did a good Sprint. Above all, when the pace is not very fast, you expect people to arrive who, well, as a rookie, certainly when he passed me I wasn’t really preserving the tires much’.
Shortly after, Márquez overtook again and said that, for Red Bull GASGAS Tech3, everything is part of their evolution: ‘And, in fact, in the end I don’t know if he made a mistake or something like that, but well, that’s how you learn’.
For the Gresini pilot, the way Acosta was on track was very interesting: ‘The attitude he had was that of a champion, as he did last year in Moto2. And the truth is that he was riding fast, had very strong points, and will be polishing that. Soon he will be fighting for the podium and will scare in some race’.
