This year, the regulations regarding minimum tire pressures in MotoGP have changed – both in terms of penalties and values, with the minimum dropping to 1.8bar.
Marc Márquez, who is with Gresini, said in a press conference that it is a significant change, but emphasized that with or without regulations, it is important for performance to operate with the ideal tire pressure:
– It’s a small step, but a big step. It’s quite difficult to control the pressure, even if you’re alone or behind someone. But ultimately it’s a matter of safety and we have to adapt, and of course if you go at a very high pressure there’s a lack of performance. But if it’s low, I also feel a lack of performance. So, ultimately you need to work with the correct tire pressure.
