Manuel González is back to his best form at the Moto2 Qatar GP, having been the clear dominator on Friday in Lusail. He also led the night session.

The session began with Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) leading after the first laps from all riders, but he was soon surpassed by Albert Arenas (Italjet Gresini/Kalex), who in turn was dethroned by Arón Canet (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex).

Shortly after, Arenas regained the lead, where he stayed for about 24 minutes before being overtaken by Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex)… only to reclaim the position right after.

In the final ten minutes, Öncü and Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) also led, before González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex) set the best time: 1m57.073s.

At the end, Canet improved and was close to beating his compatriot, but finished second, 0.022s behind. Holgado ended up third, 0.063s behind, followed by Öncü in fourth, 0.073s off, and Arenas completing the top five, 0.133s behind.

Despite a fall, championship leader Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) still managed to finish in tenth, 0.442s off the top.

The group of 14 riders directly qualifying for the second stage was rounded off by Darryn Binder (Italjet Gresini/Kalex), who finished 14th, 41 thousandths of a second ahead of Jorge Navarro (Klint Forward).
