The Moto2 Catalan GP started with the circuit record at Barcelona being broken. Manuel González was the fastest this morning in the intermediate category.
In the first eight minutes, seven different riders took turns at the top spot, which changed hands nine times… until Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) solidified the position he held for almost 30 minutes.
The British rider was eventually beaten by Alonso López (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro)… before seeing González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) set a new lap record in 1m42.860s.
It was a time that no one could beat, and so the Spanish rider stayed in the lead, 0.182s ahead of López. Dixon was third at 0.184s, followed by Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) in the top five. Championship leader Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) was eighth, 0.614s behind the leader.
