For the second time in his career, Lucas Coenen won at the MX2 Motocross World Championship. The Belgian was the strongest at the MXGP of Galicia in Lugo, despite finishing on equal points with Andrea Adamo.
Yesterday’s first race witnessed an intense battle until the end, in which Adamo (Red Bull KTM) came out on top. The Italian managed to beat Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) by just 0.732s.
Liam Everts (Red Bull KTM) finished third, 8.044s behind, while Coenen (Nestaan Husqvarna) came in fourth ahead of Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha).
The second race had a different scenario, but the protagonists remained the same at the front. This time, Coenen took the lead in the first lap and led until the end, beating Everts by a comfortable 2.658s.
De Wolf took third place, reaching that position in the 13th lap after Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) dropped in the standings. At the same time, Adamo reached the fourth position where he stayed. Mikkel Haarup (Monster Energy Triumph) finished fifth.
In the MX2 MXGP of Galicia classification, despite Coenen and Adamo finishing with the same 43 points, Coenen was declared the winner. Everts took third place, with the same points as De Wolf – both one point behind the winner, with the lowest step of the podium awarded to Everts.
